Agriculture Credit Facility (ACF)

Other Ongoing 14 June 2026

A long-running partnership between government and commercial banks that finances agricultural value-addition at concessional rates.

What it is

The Agriculture Credit Facility (ACF) has been running for years as a partnership between government and commercial banks. It is a matching fund: government provides part of each loan so that farmers and agro-processors can borrow at a concessional rate to add value to what they produce.

The numbers

  • UGX 1.5 trillion disbursed over the life of the facility.
  • UGX 50 billion committed each year.
  • Interest of about 12%, with government sharing the cost through the matching structure.

The facility is aimed squarely at value addition, helping farmers move beyond raw produce into processing.
